Foyles, Blackwell’s – two of the road’s long-standing booksellers – and a plethora of proud Charing Cross Road businesses from Denmark Street through Shaftesbury Avenue to Cecil Court have come together to showcase everything the community offers in a festival on June 30th. There are events during the day from the likes of Simon Callow, Ben Aaronovitch and John Lanchester in Blackwell’s, live jazz events in Ray’s Jazz Café at Foyles, a cross-road literary treasure hunt, reading group events, children’s activities and food and drink from the area’s idiosyncratic cafes, pubs and restaurants. Booksellers will be on hand, championing their favourite books and buyers can benefit from their expert recommendations. In the evening there will be a monster literary pub quiz in The Phoenix Artists Club below the Phoenix Theatre.
